Practice 9
Firstly assalom alaykum everybody . Destination of our 9th practical day is Toqi Telpak Furushon . Some of our classmates informed on it . Also our intern Sabina Sharipovna checked our tasks and marked. She explained the mistakes. Then we visited to the Trade dome.
The Toki Telpak Furushon is another 16th-century covered market, where the trade was actively conducted. Toki Telpak Furushon literally means "a dome of hats and headdresses". This meaning shows that the main objects of sale were the headdress, turbans and hats. Gold embroidered, fur or beaded hats were very popular among the local population, and foreign merchants. Long before the appearance of trade shops with hats, there was a dome with merchants of old books. After they were replaced by souvenir shops of local artisans, where musical instruments, knives and other souvenirs were sold.
Once, there was a "caravan-sarai Kulyuta" near the Furuschon dome. It served as a recreational house on the shopping area for travelers and guests. Currently, there is a blacksmith's museum on the site of the caravan-sarai, where skillful smiths forge various knives, swords and sabers, which become excellent national souvenirs. Today, tourists from different countries have a unique opportunity to personally see the process of ancient crafts, as well as buy a favorite souvenir among the wide choice.
The shopping arcade Toki Telpak-furushon (‘Dome of Headgear Salespersons’) comprised 5 streets fanning extensively. By means of cranked turnings skillful constructors transformed the streets into a regular hexahedral base. The central dome crowning Toki Telpak-furushon has a circle of windows. In the past the shops met the customers with abundance of turbans, fur hats, and skullcaps embroidered with silk and decorated with beads.
Today the tourists can visit Toqi Telpak Furushon to see a building with a long history and buy various souvenirs, antiques, clothes, scarves made by local craftsmen. In this famous place of Bukhara you can still buy a variety of scarves and beautiful hats. You can negotiate with the sellers and lower the price, although it is not as high as the tourists write.
