Hello everybody 🤗 Today we began our new practice under the leadership of our practice teacher Jalilov Bahodir . Firstly, all of us got together at the Lyabi- Hauz ansamble at 10:30 .Our direction was Nogay Caravanserai. Afterwards our teacher asked us about this place. Each of us gave information on it . Next we went on our practice.
Nogay Caravanserai is a monument of cultural heritage located in the historical center of Bukhara. It is included in the national list of immovable property objects of the material and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan under the state protection. Caravanserai Tower is adjacent to the western gable of Sarrophon architectural copmlex. The Nagay Caravanserai was built in 1720-1721 on the place of Sokhta caravanserai, which is belonged to Qulbobo Kokaldosh and burned down.. According to the information merchants worked on the first floor of the building and cloaks were sewn on the second flooor. The construction and reapir of two large Caravanserai in the sarafan area was of great importance in the development of trade in the Bukhara. The caravanserai has 2 floors and large courtyard. In the main northern part the Caravanserai there are crafts and trade stalls on both side of the caravanserai entrance door.
According to the information, merchants worked on the 1st floor of the building, and cloaks were sewn on the 2nd floor. After the Gazli earthquake, the 2nd floor was demolished in 1976-1977. Currently, its rooms are used as craft workshops, souvenir shops and offices . The construction and repair of two large caravanserais in the Sarrafon area was of great importance in the development of trade in the Bukhara Khanate. The construction of caravanserais led to the development of trade . Foundation documents related to the Nogai caravanserai have been preserved. The caravanserai has two floors and a large courtyard. The documents of the foundation contain information about the expenses and funds related to the caravanserai. In the main northern part of the caravanserai, there are craft and trade stalls on both sides of the entrance-exit corridor. The porch above the gate is decorated with ceramic tiles. Although the Nogai caravanserai was rebuilt, the Kokaldosh madrasa was turned into a foundation property. At the beginning of the 19th century, the tenant of the caravanserai donated 240 gold coins for the Kokaldosh madrasa . Today, the mosque is located on Bahauddin Naqshband Street .
Its only entrance was provided with a strong gate. It was made in the form of one-story hujras located along the perimeter of the courtyard. In total, there are about 45 hujras where not only guests but also their escort could comfortably stay. There were rooms for workers as well.Now life within the walls of the Nugai is also busy. The difference is that today it is full of tourists who come to study the culture and life of Central Asia. The From Silk to Spices Festival is annually held here; its visitors have an opportunity not only to enjoy looking at various products made by craftsmen but also buy something.
During the festival, testing sessions are held there to present wine made from local grapes varieties. Jewelry shops, souvenir shops, craft workshops are open here all year round. The caravanserai is protected by the UNESCO. The government programme for restoration and conservation of this historically important attraction has been launched.
