 Hi everybody 👐🏼

We started our third practice. Today the weather is nice. After our intern had come,  we went to the Mir Arab madrasah .  Initially our teacher Inobat Zoirovna informed us about this madrasah , she told its history and also diverse information.

The Mir-i Arab Madrasa is one of three buildings comprising the Po-i-Kalyan ensemble in the heart of Bukhara, along with the 12th century Kalyan minaret and the 16th century Kalyan mosque. It was constructed by the Shaibanid ruler Ubaydullah-khan (r. 1534-39) who was the first of the Shaibanids to make Bukhara his primary capital. Its name, Mir-i Arab, literally means "Prince of the Arabs" and refers to Sheikh Abdullah Yamani of Yemen who rose to fame as head of Bukhara's Muslim community during the reign of Muhammad Shaybani, the founder of the short-lived Shaibanid dynasty. Sheikh Yamani served as the pir (spiritual adviser) of several Khans and was ultimately laid to rest within the madrasa that now bears his name.

The structure has a classic shape of madrasah in Uzbekistan.

The building is rectangular, with 73 by 55 metres; in the centre is located a courtyard (37 by 33 metres). The yard is surrounded by 114 student rooms (“hujras”) on two floors. The high entrance portal is remarkable and beautifully decorated with mosaics and majolica. Immediately to the left and right of the entrance are two large halls: one used as a mosque and another as a mausoleum for Sheikh Abdullah Yemeni, Ubaidullah Khan and his relatives. The courtyard is also richly decorated with glazed bricks in blue tones.

At the entrance to the complex, you'll find a special ritual pole mounted at the wall of the building. Austere, majestic madrassa with two large domes is a perfect ensemble together with a mosque and a minaret. At sunset, it pours gold, allowing any visitor to enjoy the incredibly beautiful atmosphere that resembles the eastern tale.

Despite the fact that now madrassa aims to provide spiritual education, the institution is open for tourists and amazing life of Muslim University can be seen at any time.

Today's practice finished and I liked it. I think it was useful for everyone . We knew a lot of detail about Mir Arab madrasah , which we didn't know before . So well bye till next practice .☺️👋🏻
